The Built Environment describes the man-made surroundings providing the setting for human activity. It ranges in scale from buildings to cities and includes the supporting infrastructure.

Sustainable development enables people to satisfy their basic needs now. Globally the onus is on the industry to ensure that future generations can look forward to the same quality of life.

New initiatives are constantly introduced into the Built Environment. Many are the result of new energy management technologies. The way developments can now be constructed, and the use of new building materials, minimises consumption and waste.

Existing buildings in the developed world contribute substantially to energy consumption. These properties will need to be redeveloped to lower carbon emissions.

Developers, architects, engineers and construction firms work together in emerging markets. Projects are delivered with effective solutions in terms of the master plan: infrastructure, building design, materials and construction methods. Extensive mixed use developments incorporate living, social, commerce and retail solutions, minimising the need for large transport and infrastructure solutions.

We talk to the C-suite, directors and managers and work on both corporate and project-specific roles.
The Practice has completed assignments in developed and emerging countries. We have extensive experience setting up and building project teams internationally.
